This video features Dr. John Mathews, Superintendent of Lumberton ISD, explaining the upcoming voter-approved tax rate election (VADER) on November 3rd. He clarifies that a net one-cent increase in the district's tax rate would generate approximately $2.5 million annually, with $814,000 coming locally and triggering an additional $1.7 million from the state. The funding would address a $1.5 million annual shortfall and support essential services like staffing, safety, technology, and facilities. The proposal involves a six-cent increase in operational funding offset by a five-cent decrease in debt service. Early voting runs from October 19 to 30. The video also showcases student activities, emphasizing the positive impact of stable funding on education.
